@hedgehog comedian    The museums are closed. The girls are in lockdown.

I want to start this by saying that EM and I are very lucky to be going through this together.
We are best friends and have been for over 18 years.  We also have a house and a garden so we can get outside without being on the street. Many people don't have these chances.  They may be in a relationship that was already on the rocks, or in one that is abusive (even dangerous), far from their family, suffer from anxiety, have a job that's just dried up or live in a tiny appartment.  They may even be in a country like Italy that is having to decide who lives and who dies because there are just too many very sick people. Or in a country that thinks the economy is more important than lives.  Just watched govenor Como of NY who is trying his very best.

Yesterday the French governement rules changed a bit.

  • Public markets are to close except in towns where that is the only way to get your groceries. Physical exercice is still allowed individually and only within 1km from your home.  (That means 10 times around a shortened version of my path around the ponds, which is possible in exactly an hour at the moment- phew!)
  • Funerals are limited to 20 people maxium  The measures of security are to be respected (distance, no kissing, hugging or hand shakes, etc).
  • The unemployment for people who are almost at the end of their rights, will automatically be extended.

We buy our cheese at our local open market on Saturdays.  Now that it will no longer be held, I wondered how we'd get our cheese. Some people here couldn't live without it.  Our organic store has cheese, but it's just not as good as Mr Dutheil's.    Today I looked in the mailbox to see by chance if anything was in it and low and behold a slip of paper from the Cheese Man.   They are offering cheese, yoghurt, butter, organic eggs, unpasturized cream and milk.  AND they live at the entry to our village here.  Apparently, an order has been placed.

This can be a very stressful time.  In the beginning of our confinement, we watched this movie -Galaxy Quest.  I highly recommend it to reduce stress, and I love Alan Rickman in anything.   Here's a taste.

Some good news.  My Seaster Claire who was to board the eXXpedition boat in Tahiti when everything went sideways with the virus, is now back in France.  We're still waiting for the next announcement about when and where the boat will start from again.  The boat is almost to Tahiti.  Wonder how the crew will get home from there?

It's another beautiful day.  Perfect for a bit of gardening and lunch outside on the terrace.
