I got out yesterday - twice!

Yesterday I had an appointment for a donkey.
I've cancelled all my appointments since the 17th of March because we are in lock down.
This donkey is Insuline Resistant. Pinto he's called, has had Laminitis and his feet were badly managed so he ended up knucked over on his front feet.   Because his diet was not under control, his feet were continuing to deform.  I had been going every 4 weeks to see him.  We were now at 7 weeks.  I didn't know what I'd find.

Lucky for Pinto, his owner Helene, has him and his girlfriend Ciska on a new diet without access to grass.  He has a good mineral and vitamin supliment and flax seeds for omegas. Helene is also very good at caring for their feet.  When I went yesterday, yes they both needed a trim, but amazingly Pinto's feet were stable from the last trim.  Helene now just has secondary infection to treat and she knows exactly what to do.  Thank goodness for people willing to listen and take the time to care for their animals!  By the way, we both wore masks, we both wore gloves (me two pairs -one for working and one inside in laytex), and we stayed a donkey's length apart.
Pinto kind of looks like this. I only have photos of his feet!

Yesterday was Friday.  As I'm not working, it's like any other day.  EM is working and he was so happy to finish his last bit of typing/talking at 18h30!
A local very nice restaurant sent out an email to say that orders could be made by Wed of the week for pickup in their parking lot on Friday.  We had placed an order to I got to go out again to pick it up. Each time with the appropriate autorisation to be out.  Fanny and Eric the couple who own the restaurant were in the parking lot equiped with gloves and masks, hand gel and a credit card machine.  We just had to give our order number and they placed it in our car for us.  EM was so happy to have this dinner yesterday!

Sue has been telling us for weeks now that we should be wearing masks when ever we go out.  Well, the governement here is getting around to it so I started making one yesterday.  I have no machine it is therefore a time consuming process. (thank you again ladies at the pioneer village in Huntsville for letting me quilt with you).  I'm using the 'Sue approved' pattern from the NY times. https://www.nytimes.com/article/how-to-make-face-mask-coronavirus.html

Yesterday I listened to 'Ideas' from the CBC.  I don't like all of the podcasts, however some are excellent.  Yesterday it was a rebroadcast of 2 'Sailing Alone Around the World'.  Did you know that the first person to sail alone around the world was a Canadian? Joshua Slocum from New Brunswick in 1895.  Aside from their amazing stories, they talked about how this changed them.  Dee Cafari said that she had always been a rather negative person.  It was easy for her to say what she couldn't do or didn't want to do.  She found that it was necessary to change that to what she could do or what she wanted to do.  In doing so, she found that more things were possible.  She also said that she had to stop worrying about the things she had no control over and focus on what she could control; her skills, her boat, her time, her thoughts.  I think most of us waste a lot of time and energy and lose sleep over things we can't control.  I know I do.  Perhaps this period of confinement is a good time to work on that.

Some nice news.
Two new clients were born this week.  This is a little girl:

She's the first baby out of Charmant, my 900kg client. He's this little one's daddy.  I don't know the little one's mummy in the background here.

This is also a little girl, born to my client Grisette.  Grisette only weighs about 550kg.  Those are her legs in the background.
