Our fresh market is open again - mask or no mask? @vox @cavepierrenobleevreux
This morning we went to our fresh market. It opened last weekend, but this is the first time we've been since lockdown started back in March. The market is in a large square with several entries. They only allowed people to enter in one spot and exit at another. We had to line up to get in. They let 10 people in at a time. For us it was great! Few line ups, lots of produce, but for the merchants it was frustrating. Not enough people. The photo below is from pre Covid times.
Most people wore masks (us included) and there were arrows indicating the directional flow. Most merchants wore masks as well.
After the market, we stopped in to see Jef at our favorite winecellar and he wears a mask. He is diabetic and wants to protect himself and others. His shop is quite small so social distancing is quickly difficult. He has rearranged his store to improve flow and give more space where possible. He told us he refused 3 clients in the last week who did not want to wear a mask. He has a large sign outside his store telling people that a mask is required to enter. I understand his position. We had masks. @cavepierrenobleevreux He's absolutely right based on tracing research:
We received 2 masks in the mail during the week from our department (Eure) which is an administrative area of France (France is divided into 96 departments). These were distributed to coincide with the reduction of lockdown. We can now go out within a 100km radius of our residences without an authorisation. They don't look as sturdy or thick as the ones I made for us, but more are always welcome. They can be washed.
