No more tupperware!

I don't mean to pick on them.  I'm talking about all plastic containers.

So there are two questions:
1 Which ones are safe to put food in?
2 Which ones are recyclable?

For question 2, the BBC did a survey in 2018 and there was much confusion on recycling.
Now that the countries we loved to ship our plastic to are now saying 'STOP'.  This will hopefully cause our governements to properly address the issue.  Some are (sorry if you're American, it's just not happening).

Which ones are safe to storet food in?
Well, first don't heat food in any plastic just to be on the safe side. BPA has been replaced by BPB but it's not totally harmless either. https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/bpa-free-plastic-containers-may-be-just-as-hazardous/
If you don't heat it, it seems that PET or PETE plastic is the safest.  Again it depends on the quality and the length of time you've had it. It's also not a good idea to put it i the dishwasher if you want to prolong its life.  If possible, switch to other containers, like glass, ceramic or pyrex.
