Avoiding plastic bags #recycle #noplasticbags

In an effort to avoid them, we try to use other types of materials.  Our large shopping bags are recycled plastic which we'll keep using until they wear out.  For loose fruit and vegetables (the only way to buy them to avoid plastic), I'm starting to make my own bags out of repurposed tea towels.

I have a large supply of tea towels.  I inherited quite a few from my husband's two grandmothers.  That means that I have some very interesting 'vintage' tea towels!  Many of them never used. 




One of them was a calendar from 1940!  I've made one bag from it already.  No sewing machine here, so it takes a bit of time.
