Booked flight home
Last week I booked my flight home.
It will be my flight home in September after my journey as an Exxpedition guest crew member. If felt good and frightening to book it. It means I'm really going. Up until now it's been more or less just something I talk about and explain to others, but now it feels more like it's really going to happen.
I needed to have a flexible flight as SV Traveledge is on its way around the globe, having started in Plymouth in October. She's now in Panama leaving for Galapagos on the 28th of January. Depending on the weather she encounters on our voyage across the Indian Ocean from Perth Australia to Mauritius, she could arrive later than scheduled. This was already the case for the 1st leg from Plymouth to the Azores. During that leg, they encountered high waves and winds, making progress difficult. When sailing you are at the mercy of the weather. That's also one of it's charms.
A flexible flight is not cheap, exactly because it is 'flexible'.
I haven't booked my flight to Perth yet, where I will join the boat in August, as prices are likely to go down in a couple of months.
